The University
of Croydon is planning the development of an administration system for its
halls of residence and student accommodation.
The development has been authorised by the Head of Accommodation Services for
the university. The Accommodation
Service is responsible for 15 different accommodation units.
Each unit has a warden (responsible for the welfare of residents), an
administrator (who looks after the finances of the unit including rent
payments by students) and a domestic bursar (who looks after the cleaning and
maintenance of the unit). When students have been accepted for a course at the university, they can apply to a hall of residence for a place for the forthcoming academic year. Applications are accepted or rejected by the appropriate hall warden. Accepted students are assigned to a room for the year; although students can apply to change rooms once they have arrived. A student accepts an offered room by paying a deposit and signing a room letting contract. When a student arrives for the start of their course, they complete check-in formalities and are subsequently billed for the rent for the current term. Students have 21 days in which to pay their rent otherwise they are subject to a late payment charge. a.
