For a number of years, IBM Hursley (near Winchester, UK) have sponsored a prize for the best CN2003 practical project group. The winners then participate in the IBM ThinkPad challenge in the following September, where, competing against teams from other computing departments, they have the chance to each win an IBM ThinkPad. All groups taking CN2003 are considered for the award of the IBM prize. Tutors made a recommendation on the winning group based upon performance in the practical project- both technical work and group coordination.
The winners
for 2004-05 were announced during a prize award ceremony which
took place on Wednesday 2nd March 2005.
The awards were presented by Ms Caroline Brazier, ITS UK Resource
Management of IBM and Prof. Bob Wood Head of the School of Informatics. The winning group was invited to attend the IBM ThinkPad challenge on September 29th, 2005. For more information on IBM and their work at Hursley, see:
