As part of the assessment procedure for this Course Unit, you and your group will be required to make a short presentation. For some students, this may be the first time they have made a formal presentation, whilst others may appreciate some tips and guidance: these pages are for them.

Before the Presentation

Start by using the self-assessment questionnaire to assess your attitude to preparing for and giving presentations.  You can download the program or open it on-line.  If you download the program to use on another machine, you will need Microsoft Excel.

After you have carried out the self-assessment, it will be helpful to review the notes on making a presentation.

Groups are advised that well in advance of the presentation period, they should identify who will make the presentation (typically this should be 1 or 2 people at most).  The remainder of the group will need to be present in order to answer questions.

The Presentation

A schedule will be produced and displayed in lectures indicating when and where each group should make its presentation.  All group members must attend the presentation.  Members not attending will not be awarded the group presentation mark. Groups should arrive at the presentation room at least 10 minutes before the start of the presentation time.  No compensation can be given for late arrival.

A data projector and PC will be available in the presentation room.
