The official examination structure can be found on the official Course Unit description. What advice can you give me on the examination? See the separate page on preparing for the CN2003 examination. What advice can you give me on revision? See the separate page on revision advice. What advice can you give me on answering examination questions? See the separate page on question answering advice. How can I get hold of past examination papers? Past examination papers can be found on the official Course Unit description page. However you should note that older papers will have had a different structure to the more recent questions. You will find it more helpful however, to go to the examination advice pages and review the worked examples of examination questions. Where can I get hold of model answers to past papers? I do not supply model answers. However if you are prepared to attempt any question, I will mark it and talk through your answer with you. Advice on answering examination questions is given on a web page and there are some limited examples of how to answer longer, problem-solving questions. What if I fail the Course init? The Board of Examiners for your course has rules about which students are eligible to retake a Course Unit- either by resit examination in August or by repeating the full Course Unit. You should consult your course handbook for details. If you are retaking a resit examination paper in August, it will cover the same material as the main January examination and have an equivalent structure. Do I need to read the Course Unit textbooks to pass the examination? The Course Unit text books are recommended reading and are aimed to help reinforce the ideas covered in the lecture. Course Unit lectures and notes are intended to cover all of the examined material on the course (unless specifically indicated otherwise). If you attend every lecture and understand every point made in the lecture and you take a full an active part in the practical project, you probably do not need to read the recommended texts. However virtually no student will understand everything in a lecture (e.g. lapse of concentration, don't understand the lecturer's language etc. etc.). In this case, you might wish to read up on the subject matter in one of the recommended texts. The Course init lecturer will be able to point you to an appropriate section. Alternatively, you might just ask a question either during the lecture, during a break or immediately after the lecture. |
Quick Tips Look carefully at this page to see if your question appears. If not, contact the Course Unit tutors for further information. |
